The second band signed by SCF Entertainment , Electric Boogaloo was brought aboard in 2000 to complement the already popular disco/funk band Stone Cold Fox . Originally consisting of singer Victor Le Rock , guitarist Nigel McNasty , bassist Sybil , and drummer Mick Le Bond , this foursome introduced their unique brand of 80s new wave/pop to Nashville, Tennessee, and eventually to many other clubs in the Southeast.
In 2002, bass player Spaz M. Finkelstein was brought in to replace departed bassist Sybil, and The Boogaloo continued to expand into new territories.
In 2003, not one, but two, guitar players were recruited to fill the shoes left by departed guitarist Nigel: Todd "Chachi" Camino and Frankie Fairlight . A second drummer, Craven Moorehead , was also brought into the fold.
2004 started with Victor, Spaz, Chahi and Craven all leaving for a burlesque tour in the Netherlands. With half the band gone Mick LeBond and Frankie Fairlight took a two month sabbatical in Mother England to recruit some old mates to fill in the gaps.
While in London, Frankie Fairlight an avid quesadilla chef and rhinoceros hunter, injured himself while refereeing a rousing game of cricket. While in the infirmary, he was treated by Dr. Nigel Johnson a Scot with a penchant for Beef Jerky, and the American cheap wine known as Ripple. Frankie later found that the good doctor, along with once being a banister, a Royal Guard and Harry Carey's understudy, had spent two years as the head surgeon on tour with Devo. During this time, he picked up such useful tricks as twirling drumsticks, wrapping patch cords, cooking for the band, and playing the bass. After hearing that Electric Boogaloo was looking, Dr. Johnson changed his name to Semicolon , sold his scrubs and bought a bass.*
Meanwhile on the Isle of Wight, Mick LaBond had taken up working as a Bobby to make money during the off time. One day while on patrol, Mick stopped a car for driving on the right side of the road. As he walked up to the car, he heard the occupant singing Footloose. The driver was Simon LeBone , a long lost cousin of Mick's whose side of the family had slightly modified their last name due to an unpleasant situation during The War of the Quadruple Alliance (1718–1720). Simon had been serving the British Seabee Gee Bees and had been in America for nearly 3 years, so his driving had gotten a bit turned around. It didn't matter, Mick tore up the ticket he was writing, and invited Simon to join the band so he would always have chauffeurs and never have to drive again. Finally, Electric Boogaloo was complete!
To this day, Electric Boogaloo continues to amaze clubs and fans alike with their crazy 80s show.
Recently, Semicolon spent a week in Minniapolis studying with former members of a couple of famous bands from that area. With that being said, Semi has dropped the Semicolon nickname in favor of one that his buddis Morris and Jerome gave him. Juciy Fruit.
Four years after joining the band Simon was on a three hour tour of the Hawaiian Islands.......the boat, her crew and all passengers including Simon Labone have not been seen since. In his place, the band went to Hill Valley California to recruit the top notch vocal skills of C.C. Delorean.
With C.C. at the helm , Electric Boogaloo is soaring to new heights. |
